Job roles within a music performance event
there are many roles within a live music event from working with musicians on live performances to being part part of big name labels in the industry behind desks. To name some there are musicians, sound engineers, working front of house are just a slice out of the pipeline that works the musical industry.

​Front of house engineer
a front of house engineers job is to work the PA through mixing desk. a Mixing desk controls the volume of every mic and amplifiers (if used ) a front of house engineers job is making sure that the mix (the volume of all the instruments) are at the right level this is normally decided by the sound engineers behind the desk however the performers will give them an idea of what they they would like it to sound like for the audience. another key role in for front of house engineers add effects if the performers require and or ask for them.

what skills are needed to be a front of house engineer?

front of house engineers are the bridge for the performers music to the audiences ears due to this they need to have key skills in listening one skill they will need is good communication a simple yet important skill as you will need to communicate with the musicians on stage because if they need effects or volumes raised during certain parts of the song you will be the one having to read what they are trying to communicate to you another one of these skill is at minimum a basic understanding of key terminology used within musical performances to be good these can be the terminology for equipment and a musical terminology like "audio and sound reinforcement, signal flow and proper gain structure" (soundgirls. 2025) lastly they need to be able to use a mixing desk and workings behind what everything does

a concert tech/roadie
a concert tech/roadie role
a concert techs job is they have to take care of the musicans instrumetns and equipment they are resonsible for replacing guitars on stage if they need to be swapped or replaced for helping drummers if their drum kits have problems(if the fall over exc) they are also resposible for and maybe even checking and or putting instruments in tune. futhermore while genrally known as music/concert techs they is typically not just one tech there are normally multiple techs like 1 for each instruments like drum techs and bass techs for example.

what skills are needed to become a concert tech
a concert tech or musican tech skills vary on depending on the skills you are need for however some god skills to have can be insight and knowledge in specific instruments and knowlegde on how to work the equipment and having a good ear these are important skills as your job could require you to have to help musicans with tunning and tones on their instruments aslo a good ear allows you not only when somtehing sounds right but will allow you to help musicians if something malfunctions with their equipment (e.g the drummer click has stopped playing)

monitor engineers role
similar to a front of house engineer a montior engineers role is to make sure the musicians can hear themselfs on stage and are a responsible for the mixing the instruments on the monitors for the musicians. They are expected to mix the music has to the musicians liking they can also be responsible for the eqs and the care and maintnece of the monitors however for mainstream or bigger band they will have a specialed tech for these lastly there are two types of monitors that a monitor enginner will wok with these are IEMs and stage monitors. IEMs monitors are in ear monitors almost like headphones and these are smaller and have their benifits like blocking out crowd noise however they are only really used by bigger more mainstream bands however alot of smaller bnds use stage monitors for their clarity and versitility.

the skills required are almost the exact same to a front of house engineer like familiarity with the equipment and terminology good ear and good comunication skills etc.

a live music performance is a place where where things can get out of hand extremely quickly due to this there are a lot of rules and safety measures that have to be put in places before bands perform within this there are many key roles and parts that go into keeping the audience and the overall safety of everyone at the event.

what goes into keeping a live music event safe
a lot goes into planning a live event you have to take into consideration a lot of factors to keep the audience safe to help make a performance more safe many people are brought in to help in many areas not only trying to keep the musicians safe but the audience as a event is going on the people in charge of the event will put in planning and measures too keep everyone safe they will have to take into account every person who could be going this will mean accommodating disabled people children(if its a child friendly performance) and maybe even the elderly this will mean that they will have to accommodate these people furthermore you will need to be a fluid way for people to get in and out of the performance easy quickly and safely so you will need fire/emergency exits as well lastly you will need to consider security and safety of the musicians on stage so you will need security guards too keep people back from climbing on stage or causing massive problems(to not only keep the audience from getting to rowdy but also musicians) lastly depending on the location and size of the event you might need first aid on standby.

rehersal techniques
As a musicians rehearsals are a very crucial for the improvement of yourself and your bandmates. Rehearsal techniques need to be used by even the best of musicians, to make their rehearsals practical and efficient. Furthermore as a musician they will help you connect with you band members musically and personally and in turn making you music sound even more tight and well put together.

you should use rehearsal technique's to make your rehearsal's and individual practice more efficient. Every rehearsal should leave you feeling happy and u having achieved something, rehearsal techniques allow to build upon your own skill and helped you build a better structure for you future project's. furthermore when you get into the routine of these techniques they will mean they become second nature to you later meaning that you get to spend more time playing and having fun and less time trying to figure out what your meant to be doing lastly musicians lastly these foundation are the basis of some of the best musicians that have made them the great musicians that you know today and even the best musicians always have stuff they could improve on. ​
how is this relevant to my FMP
I will be trying to impliment some of these rehersal techniques in my practices. With my band i will utilise these techniques, to make my rehersals more effective and effecient also some of these i would like to use are. Practicing my stage pressence, less noodling and more communication while in practice these will help my performance to be smooth and allow my songs to sound tight and fluid.
how to promote a music event
promoting a music event is a very crutial thing if you want people to come to your performance it allows your musical abilitys to be recongnised while letting other peolpe enjoy your music and you can even get paid for it and is great for the surronding communitys "A music event will be an exceptional addition to your local area’s annual calendar"(Collis.20th of July, 2024)
diffrent way to promote a music event
there are many ways to promote a music event some ways are more effeicent than others however covering a wide varity will make sure that it reaches as many people as possible there are many types of people and they all get information from diffrent types of media.

tik-tok and instagram are a great way of promoting an event, due typically younger audience having access to them and them being able to spread word quickly. However another benefit of this is that due to them being on online it allows everyone to be able to access them easily see when you will be performing another great form of media to use for promoting is facebook it has a typically older group of users although it is another way of easily promoting your performance it is stilll used alot of people today and it is free exactly like instagram and tik-tok and being linked with instagram it allows people to get notifications about your performence through instagram.Posters are another great form of promotion allowing you to spread the though posters that anyone passing by will have a quick glance at meaning you will have and this allows anyone to be able to see when and where easily where you performance instantly lastly email is a good way of promoting your performance it allow you to passivly tell people when your performance is happening "you can easily reach your target audience and build anticipation for your big day."(Collis, 2024)

this is relevent to my project because as a class we will have to promote our performance to the school and we will need to know some way of promoting ou event so i can help give suggestion about how and where we should promote our performance.
